Biggest Takeaway from NYFW F/W 2019

New York Fashion Week is the perfect time to gain a wealth of inspiration for the upcoming season.  After a long week covering runway shows, networking at industry parties, and collaborating with amazing brands (see below for details), I was able to assess what will be trending for Fall/Winter 2019.  The biggest takeaway from NYFW F/W 2019 is the chic use of texture.

Textured detailing will play a huge role on our F/W 2019 styles.  A bold use of metallics, prints, beadwork and even feathering are on the rise.  Hakan Akkaya’s Glam Rock Collection exceptionally portrayed this detailing.  His pieces ranged from retro-inspired looks with full studs, head to toe metallic beadwork, to full printed looks.  I adored the androgynous 70’s rock inspiration, especially in the hair band styling and the pronounced shoulders.  Admittedly, each model had strength powering down the runway… a confidence everyone should (and will) feel when wearing pieces of this collection.

Thankfully, leather is a fabric that is making a large comeback on the runway.  With its sleek texture, it adds strength to feminine ensembles.  Reminiscent of the fantastic 2013 Kenneth Cole collection (which I adore), the Anveglosa line, by designer Annette Chan, represented the fortitude of women using treated leather blended with soft tulle and silk.  The thick fabric adds a sophisticated functionality to a soft base look.

Designer Cong Tri was also spot on with his texture palette.  His feminine looks appeared in all fabrics starting with beaded body suits, merging into architectural tulle, merging into model Winnie Harlow strutting down the runway in printed metallics.  Each piece was designed with a romantic flare ready to turn heads.

MY LOOKS:

My outfit for the Cong Tri show consisted of an amazing asymmetrical grey wool coat and thick high necked top by Marcella Moda NYC (pictured above).  I love a sleek, simple look, and this captured it with sophistication.  Also, it was about 15 Degrees that day and the coat was SO WARM!!  Marcella Moda NYC pieces mix NYC style with European craftsmanship for beautiful minimalist modern pieces.

Backtracking to the first day of NYFW, I wore a full Nasty Gal look with a 1970’s retro vibe (see below for outfit details).  When it came to my jewelry on day two, Lele Sadoughi‘s beautiful Trumpet Lily Earrings (similar) and ring (similar) influenced my white look.  I sported a Paula Mendoza bangle, supplied by Lihte, to the Fashion Mingle industry party.  The black and white look was inspired by last years Met Gala theme.

Also, I tried some new hair products during fashion week to repair my broken ends!  I was extremely surprised at the outcome! Featured blog on SEVEN Hair Care coming soon!

Thank you to all the PR companies, designers, collaborators, and a special thank you to the Element Times Square West for hosting me during NYFW (stay tuned for a NYC travel blog coming your way.)  Cheers to a successful fashion week and many more to come!

NYFW RECAP – S/S 2019

After living in New York City for over five years, I miss the fast pace, the fashion, and the food!  I LOVE living in Philly, but when NYFW comes around, I usually try to take advantage of every second.  Due to a contract in Jersey, I had to accomplish Fashion Week in just three days!  My biggest take aways from Spring/Summer 2019 shows?  Three words: color, sequins, and clear vinyl!

Meticulously Eccentric S/S 2019 NYFW Show - NYFW Recap

The bold colors of the 80’s are returning with a vengeance.  Daring pinks, purples, blues, greens, and yellows depict a feminine strength as seen in this years Meticulously Eccentric show.  These hues mirror last seasons power suites and encourage women to be strong and confident!  I supported this theme with an all yellow two-piece outfit by Nasty Gal. I complimented the look with a pair of yellow Nasty Gal shades (similar here), blue Report Ladia Heels, and a clear vinyl bag (similar here).

Custo Barcelona s/s 2019 NYFW Show - NYFW Recap

Sequins and metallic’s are taking over the runway! Unlike the over-use of sparkles in the 80’s, this detailing is modernly designed with sophistication and beautiful craftsmanship.  It allows for a feminine touch of elegance, as well as a flirty rebellious feel when added to denim!  These designs from the Custo Barcelona Show (as seen above) showcase this concept perfectly.  Sleek silhouettes give way to delicate embellishments for dresses, jackets, and even boots.  Additionally, he too rocks the bold color statement throughout his line.  The Custo Barcelona show was hands down my favorite show this season!

Lastly, clear vinyl and translucent sleeves will be making their mark in the Spring and Summer of 2019.  My favorite two examples of this glassy trend were the designs at the Vitruvius Collection at the Nolcha Show’s. They designed incredible structured pieces with a strong, mod architectural flare.

F/W NYFW 2018 Recap | Part 2

Girl in all red with skyline and coat flowing in breeze

As I said in F/W NYFW 2018 Part 1, many designers this season put a huge focus on strong, empowering women, bringing back the 1980’s inspired power suits and bold colors.  Daringly, I chose an all red outfit to harmonize with the designers theme. Anyone who says redheads can’t wear red is wildly mistaken!

I snagged the pants, sweater, shoes, and hoop earrings at H&M and the Jacket was a fantastic find at Buffalo Exchange! Obviously, to finish the look, I did a vivid red lip.  This ensemble fit right in at the Colour by Nandi Madida show.  The designers collaboration represented power suits, structured materials and bold colors.

Since it was a rainy NYC day, I chose to do a sleek street look for the Ennyluap show.  I mixed my black shirt and high-waisted pants with a KILLER Army green jacket from Express.  I finished the look with a pair of thigh high brown boots from Forever 21, hoops from H&M, and did a simple pony.

For the Negris Lebrum show, I channeled Chanel with a check dress, over-the-knee boots and a long velvet trench.  Additionally, I added a bunch of pearls, to soften the look, and combined a belt and hat to bring the black color throughout the entire outfit.  I also sported my favorite Polo Ralph Lauren cross body.

The Ennyluap show was most certainly my favorite show I attended.  Her whole line was cohesive and unique.  She blended the modern independent woman with vintage tones from the 50’s and 60’s seamlessly.

The last show that I attended this season was the Negris Lebrum show.  He also had a mod 1960’s theme to his accessories.  The focus was on the rounded sunglasses, colorful shoes, and buckled handbags.

Thank you all for the amazing support and being with me step by step as I was debuting She’s Red Haute to NYFW and I can’t wait to see what is in store in September for S/S Fashion Week!

F/W NYFW 2018 Recap | Part 1

Redhead in pink standing in front of lights

This was such an exciting fashion week because it was my debut of She’s Red Haute to the shows of NYFW!  Fashion Week is a time when I can take some daring risks with my looks and let my outfits express my true personality.  I’ve decided to break up my experience into two parts, so you can get the full effect!

Fashion week runway shows can be fantastic forms of expression of our current culture.  This season, many designers put a huge focus on strong, empowering women bringing back 1980’s inspired power suits and bold colors.

Dan Liu runway finale

The Dan Liu show had a very James Bond vibe… if James Bond were a boss babe!  He did a fantastic job designing long suit jacket dresses.  I sported a Chanel inspired Karen Lawrence dress.  The strong aura suggested in the dress, with the hightened sleeves and the lattice work illusion top, blends seamlessly with the feminine pearls and bows.  Additionally, I paired the outfit with a mod pair of Qupid block heels and ivory socks to match my New York & Company coat, for warmth.  Aside from the dress, my favorite part of this outfit is my Marc New York bag.  I adore the color and metal ring handle.

This gold power outfit was completely inspired by the NYFW Malan Breton F/W 2017 collection. His use of metallics and female suits was breathtaking.  My jacket and  handbag are from Marshall’s and the rest is from H&M.  The scalloped belt, which I snagged from a vintage shop, complimented the scales on the jacket to a tee.  I felt sleek and ready to take on the world in this outfit, which I wore to the Fashion Hong Kong show and after party, and the Dahlia Razzook trunk show.
