MASTER THIS RUNWAY LOOK LIKE A PRO!

The puffy sleeve trend has made its rounds from the 1800’s to the 80’s, and started resurfacing in the 2019 runway shows of designers such as Marc Jacobs and Valentino. You probably even caught a regal glimpse of Beyonce sporting the style at the 2020 Golden Globes! Here are a four tricks of the trade to style puffy sleeves!

FOCUS ON FABRIC: Finding the right fabric is the basis of conquering a puff-sleeve ensemble. A light fabric can be too wispy and cling, where as sturdy fabric will help the look from losing its shape.

BOLD ACCESSORIES: You can add heightened accessories to help even out the drama of the look. My recommendation, wear your hair up with a large pair of earrings, or even go with a bright color. In this look, I chose to do both with the hot pink Forever 21 bag and earrings.

PRINTS: A good print, like the floral motif seen in this H&M dress, is a perfect way to help camouflage as well as accentuate the puff. You’d almost think that adding a bold print with puffy sleeves would be too over the top, but really, it ups the drama and can give the whole look high-fashion vibes.

CINCH THE WAIST: To even out the fullness of the sleeves, find a design that has a cinched or form fitted waistline, or even do it yourself with a cute belt! It will allow the puff sleeves to be the statement piece without feeling frumpy everywhere else!

Trying this dramatic look takes some getting used to, but with these four style tips, you’ll be ready to wear puffy sleeves like a pro! Who says the runway models should have all the fun?

Three Reasons To Wear Matching Sets

One of the most Instagrammable trends right now is a chic matching set! From a boho Summer Style, to a warm winter tone, this look has jumped off the runway and into our closets with ease! Here’s three reasons to wear matching sets:

SIDE NOTE: Be sure to check out the last paragraph to find out a little fun fact about me :).

The most obvious reason… IT’S SO EASY! No need to panic in the morning about what to wear! Thankfully, these sets allow you to create a sophisticated style with minimal effort. This Knit Set from H&M takes sweater weather to a whole new comfy level! Literally, it’s wool-blended and feels like wearing a warm blanket in the winter.

Another reason to sport coordinating sets is that you can easily CREATE MULTIPLE OUTFITS! Just as you can wear them together, you can separate these sets to create a whole closet full of looks! For example, you can effortlessly pair this midi skirt with a black turtle neck and a pair of pumps for a stylish work outfit, or go more laid back by combining the sweater with jeans!

Lastly, these twin selections also allow you to MAKE A STATEMENT! Whether keeping it sleek with all one color or mixing it up with printed patterns, you’re sure to turn heads in a matching ensemble. Monochromatic sets are super chic, like this pant set by Song of Style. Full printed looks are also making an impact, such as the H&M Plaid print I’m wearing! Two piece sets with a motif are also very slimming… which is helpful around the holidays LOL. If you’re curious on learning more about dressing in plaid, you may find this useful: PLAID IS TRENDING.

You don’t have to sacrifice your personal style when grabbing something quick to wear anymore! Matching two piece sets have got you covered!

FUN FACT: During this shoot, my amazing photographer, Nichole Marie Photography, walked me to the Plays and Players Theatre in Philly. I have been a professional actor for over 10 years, so this shoot has so much more meaning behind the outfit as it encompasses my biggest passion in life! Thanks to the amazing person (who I assume was a stage manager) for turning on the marquee lights. You are a star and made this shoot so special!

Making the Most of Sweater Weather

SURVIVING TILL SPRING – PART 2: WHAT YOU WEAR

Erin Leigh of She's Red Haute wearing a white sweater with a cream scarf walking down a brick road

It becomes harder each day to pull out those thick sweaters, coats, and hats when you know the weather is so close to getting more warm.  We are on the brink of Spring, however it is still 30 degrees outside.  While you may not be able to pack away your coats just yet, you can dawn light Spring colors to help you mentally transition.  It’s a fun way of making the most of sweater weather!

For this ensemble, I wanted to breach winter whites with soft Spring tones, such as tans, creams, and light pinks. It helps the look evolve into the next season.

Due to the cold snap lately, my thick knitted H&M sweater was a perfect start to this look.  I paired it with a printed vintage skirt with tan and brown hues.  The snakeskin print that has been so popular this season, like this Nasty Gal skirt, would be perfect .

Lately, I have been inspired by the hanging scarf belted at the waist, made popular on the runway last season.  I chose to use it to heighten the whole look with this cream scarf that my Granny knitted.  Then I fastened it with a thin brown belt.  By using this color, it pulls out the brown tones in the skirt and the boots.  Also, it helps keeps in the heat and adds a sophistication to the outfit.

The light pink hue of the Marc New York bag throws a touch of Spring to complete the outfit.  When the weather warms up to the 60’s, you could easily recreate this look with a light white top and switch out the boots for a cute pair of pumps.  Add a white coat with a knitted texture to the mix, and Voila! By adding some soft neutrals and a cute print, you managed to take the drab of winter to a fun Spring-y level!

Styling Puff Sleeves and High-Waisted Pants

The weeks before NYFW are packed with planing, meetings and running errands.  This busy schedule requires outfits that are comfortable for running around, but professional for meetings This look with puff sleeves and high waisted pants accomplishes this perfectly.  The neckline on this Forever 21 top (find a similar top here) accentuates the shoulders just enough to feel sleek and feminine.  Additionally the puff sleeves add a dramatic flare and a subtle playfulness to the ensemble.

I chose to take a sporty approach to these high waisted paper-bag pants from H&M.  I rolled them up, for a fun daytime look, and tied the belt in a flirty bow. Thankfully, these pants are extra high-wasted, which I adore! The height helps make legs look longer!

Finishing the look, I threw on a pair of  Qupid white mule ankle boots! Hands down, these have been my favorite shoe throughout the season.  Thankfully, these boots are well-ventilated, due to the exposed back, keeping them super comfy in the summer heat.  Want to transition this look for a night out?  Roll down the pant cuffs and add a sexy pair of heels!

Laid Back in All Black

This spring season’s weather has been crazy!  When it’s 80 degrees and sunny one day and 60 degrees and raining the next it’s difficult to judge what to wear!  Luckily, no matter what season, you can’t go wrong laid back in an all black look!  The fun part is spicing it up to show off those red locks!

I chose to sport this laid back look with a light H&M cold shoulder top with bell selves and a pair of high waisted H&M black jeans.  Unfortunately, I have short legs, so I often wear bottoms that are high waisted in order to give them an elongated feel.  I chose to pair them with these killer Calvin Klein Elin loafers.  Patent leather is making a huge comeback!  Additionally, the shine gives the ensemble a little texture.

SIDE NOTE: All black really makes red hair pop don’t you think?

My favorite part of this outfit is hands down this western floral Nasty Gal belt bag.  The new age fanny packs are back on trend, and I couldn’t be more happy! Who wants to carry a purse all the time anyway? lol. Together, this outfit is comfortable and classic with a modern twist.

Spring Sweater Style

I love when the weather is sunny and crisp at 65-70 Degrees! It’s not cold enough for a winter coat (thank God) and not humid enough to ruin my curls!  It’s the perfect time of year to amp up your spring sweater style!

Light tones finally have their time to shine in the Spring, like this textured knit sweater I’m wearing from H&M.  It may look thick, but it’s actually quite airy.  In the shade, it’s still a little chilly, so I paired the sweater with a heather grey trench I snagged from a consignment shop.  In my opinion, this tone of grey is the most comfortable color to wear.  Maybe it’s because it resembles my favorite sweat pants, but regardless, it’s a comfy and chic color.

Lastly, I finished the outfit with a light wash of Kensie denim jeans and my new favorite slingbacks, the Lailey’s, by Marc Fisher.  The silver color matches the jacket and the metallic finish gives the outfit a little pop!

Girl Boss Vibes

Happy snowy spring! Hopefully, this will be my last snow shoot of the year.  Ladies, it’s time to take the girl boss vibe to a whole new level!  For an important meeting last week, I wanted to feel strong and confident!  To accomplish this, I wore this classic grey J. Crew wool suit.  A good suit is modern, refined, and currently all over the runway.  Personally, I love the fit and the monochromatic color.

To make the suit stand out, I detailed the outfit with touches of black seen in my  H&M hat, my handbag and my argyle socks from J.Crew.  I’m definitely ready to put away my coats, but I appropriately dressed for the weather in a London Fog wool cognac coat and a pair of warm black leather gloves.

Sometimes all you need is an empowering outfit to bring out the fearlessness inside you.  Thankfully, this brought my confidence up to rock it out in the  meeting!

F/W NYFW 2018 Recap | Part 1

Redhead in pink standing in front of lights

This was such an exciting fashion week because it was my debut of She’s Red Haute to the shows of NYFW!  Fashion Week is a time when I can take some daring risks with my looks and let my outfits express my true personality.  I’ve decided to break up my experience into two parts, so you can get the full effect!

Fashion week runway shows can be fantastic forms of expression of our current culture.  This season, many designers put a huge focus on strong, empowering women bringing back 1980’s inspired power suits and bold colors.

Dan Liu runway finale

The Dan Liu show had a very James Bond vibe… if James Bond were a boss babe!  He did a fantastic job designing long suit jacket dresses.  I sported a Chanel inspired Karen Lawrence dress.  The strong aura suggested in the dress, with the hightened sleeves and the lattice work illusion top, blends seamlessly with the feminine pearls and bows.  Additionally, I paired the outfit with a mod pair of Qupid block heels and ivory socks to match my New York & Company coat, for warmth.  Aside from the dress, my favorite part of this outfit is my Marc New York bag.  I adore the color and metal ring handle.

This gold power outfit was completely inspired by the NYFW Malan Breton F/W 2017 collection. His use of metallics and female suits was breathtaking.  My jacket and  handbag are from Marshall’s and the rest is from H&M.  The scalloped belt, which I snagged from a vintage shop, complimented the scales on the jacket to a tee.  I felt sleek and ready to take on the world in this outfit, which I wore to the Fashion Hong Kong show and after party, and the Dahlia Razzook trunk show.

Fall Essentials

Redhead girl looking at phone walking down the street

Never underestimate a chic look with simple pieces.  I have been completely obsessed with simple mock turtlenecks, like this one from H&M.  It’s essential pieces like this that can be the basis for so many outfits.  You can dress it up with a pencil skirt for work, or dress it down with jeans for a sleek street style.  Mock turtlenecks allow you to still see some of your neck, giving a lengthening feel to your look, rather a “floating head” feel from a full turtleneck.

I also lengthened my legs by wearing a pair of Express high-waisted jeans.  I opted use my hair color as inspiration for adding the Ralph Lauren Damara boots and a belt.  I completed the look with my favorite Polo crossbody.  It’s beautifully made and it’s the perfect on-the-go size.
