Transitioning into Clean Beauty

SPRING CLEANING SERIES – PART 2 – CLEAN BEAUTY – CODE BELOW for 30% OFF!

Last week we delved into my Spring Cleaning Series with 7 WAYS TO ORGANIZE YOUR BEDROOM.  This week, we set our sights on transitioning into clean beauty!  Check out the full video above or on IGTV.

DON’T BREAK THE BANK: First, I have noticed that clean beauty and makeup can get super expensive.  So, for this series, I was on a mission to find products that were well priced for the quality.  King Bladud face masks and Helios Luminor nail polish accomplished both of these goals.

THE CLEAN LOOK OF KING BLADUD: King Bladud refuses to sell products that contain parabens, sulfates, additives, thickeners, gums, or preservatives.  Additionally, they don’t use any extraneous fragrances or perfumes.  The company also prides itself on being Leaping Bunny certified as cruelty free. Their suppliers have pledged that their employees are treated with respect and have excellent working conditions.  SIDE NOTE: learn about King Bladud, the historical figure behind the brand’s name HERE.

THEIR PRODUCT: Their dehydrated face masks, which you mix with their  Mortar and Pestle, are great for smoothing and rejuvenating tired skin.  I have been using their G.O.A.T mask and have been loving it!  It contains kaolin clay, bentonite clay, goat milk, baking soda, Vitamin C Ester, Provitamin B5, and Vitamin B3.

MIX IT UP: The mixing process is simple: you add some of the powdered product into the bowl (i used about a tablespoon).  Then you add some water as the hydrant.  I found that two parts powder to one part water did the trick.  You can also add organic fruit as the hydrator instead of water.  Later this week, I’ll be testing this with the BEET YOUR FACE mask using strawberries.  Stay tuned on my social media!

NAILED IT: While you wait for your mask to dry, you can paint your nails a fun spring color with Helios Luminor nail polish. I tried the Livin’ Lovely color and noticed it gave me a gel-like look and wasn’t streaky at all!

THE CLEAN LOOK OF HELIOS LUMINOR: Their vegan nail polish’s are free of Toluene, Camphor, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Ethyl Tosylamide, Xylene, Rosin, and TPHP (Triphenyl Phosphate & Triclosan).  It’s also paraben, phthalate, and cruelty free.  Additionally, it cures in natural light so there is no need for harmful UV or or LED lamps!

MOISTURIZING PROPERLY: After you paint your nails and wash off your clay mask, it’s important to moisturize!  Be sure to use a face and eye moisturizer as opposed to a general body moisturizer.  The pores around our eyes are smaller and our face has thinner skin than the rest of our body.  If you use a body moisturizer on your face, you may not get the proper hydration.  Secondly, don’t use one with alcohol so your face doesn’t burn upon application.

JUST ROLL WITH IT: You can apply your moisturizer with the King Bladud Jade Face Roller.  It’s made of polished stone, so it stays cold to calm swelling in your face or baggy under eyes.  The motion of the jade roller increases circulation and helps accomplish an even layer of product.

See you then!

Why Wear Sunscreen in the Winter?

SURVIVING TILL SPRING – PART 1: SKIN CARE

Most redheads are aware that although the warmth of Spring and Summer are absent, sunscreen is just as important in the winter.  When it comes to your face, the bitter air can have a harsh effect on the fragile skin that is left uncovered.  Finding the proper product for winter is key!  But why wear sunscreen in the winter?  There are a few great reasons:

Snow and Ice Reflect UV Rays  –  Similar to how you can burn easily when swimming in a pool, the sun reflects off the water onto your skin.  In the winter, you can be surrounded by snow and ice, which has the same effect.  Basically, it’s like laying in the yard with a vintage sun reflector from the 60’s.

Winter is Rough on the Skin  –   Cold wind and dry air results in skin being chapped over the winter.  Without the proper hydration and protection, your face will undoubtably take on a reddish hue and crack due to dryness.  Sunscreen creates a guarded barrier against these effects.   Like an umbrella for your face!

Unfortunately, when it’s chilly outside, you don’t feel the sun’s cruel rays.  I kid you not, I was a Philadelphia Eagles game toward the end of the season where it was 38 degrees and SUNNY.  The sun was beating on us for a good portion of the game and my face got burnt!

However, I understand if you don’t want to feel greasy or smell like a pina colada all winter.  While Pina Colada’s are delicious, this is a valid complaint.

I recommend using Coola Sun Care’s Classic Sunscreen.  It’s super thin and dries quickly.  I didn’t believe it at first since it is SPF 50, which is usually super thick.  But after I tested it for two weeks, I am a firm believer.  Also, you can try it in a clean White Tea scent... so bye bye coconut smell!  Some of their other sunscreen products also come in a fresh cucumber scent or you can go unscented.  A great winter perk: it’s also a moisturizer!  It protects and keeps your skin from drying out.   I recommend using it under your foundation.

This year, I have been making it a priority to use more natural products on my sensitive face.  What I love most about the Coola sunscreen is that it is certified organic and endorsed by the American Lifeguard Association!  It’s non-GMO, Vegan certified, and gluten and cruelty free!  Plus, it’s TSA size approved… so when you take that mid-winter island getaway, it can travel with you!

No one wants a leathery face in 20 years due to lack of care year round.  Be good to yourself and keep those rays protected from your face!

Going Natural with Intended Cosmetics

Intended Cosmetics Scrub, Facial Cleansing Oil and eye serum on a towel

Do you enjoy natural face and body products?  I have severely dry skin, and so far, not much has worked to remedy this problem long term.  Recently,  you may have noticed that I have been testing out a bunch of natural products.  Luckily, I’m learning quickly how to remedy this dry skin issue.  Obviously, moisturizing will always be a key component, but glowing skin starts with how you cleanse! Also, keep reading for a promo code exclusively for my followers!

Intended Cosmetics has an entire line that is natural, plant-based and delicate on my dry, sensitive skin.  A few of their products really stand out and I have formed a new nightly regiment.

+ First, I start with using their Salt of the Earth Sea Salt Body Scrub in the shower.  It moisturizes and exfoliates without being too harsh on my skin.

+ Then, after my shower, I go right to the sink and wash my face with their Facial Cleansing Oil.  I love it because it leaves my skin so soft, but it absorbs quickly, so my face doesn’t remain shiny.  It balances the natural oils on your skin flawlessly and works for all skin types.

+ Did you know that the skin around your eyes has smaller pores than the rest of your face?  Due to this, you need to have a moisturizer that is specifically created for around the eyes.  The Lift Up Nightly Eye Serum boosts and moisturizes the tender skin around the eyes by using cold pressed natural oils.  Additionally, I’ve noticed that it’s helping to lighten the dark circles around my eyes.

+ Lastly, I complete the routine with my  favorite product, the Believe Intense Moisturizing Whipped Cream! It’s light and silky soft with a clean, citrus aroma.

I also love their natural soaps, like the Lavender Oatmeal Soap.  I put it in my guest bathroom and I have received so many compliments about the calming smell.  Thankfully, it makes your hands feel smooth after use too!

Wanna try it?  Intended cosmetics is offering my followers an exclusive code for 20% off from now until April 1st!!! Type SHESRED20 at checkout to receive it! Don’t miss out!

Kiss A Ginger Day with BITE Beauty

Redhead girl applying lipstick in mirror

HAPPY NATIONAL KISS A GINGER DAY!! It’s time to celebrate the holiday and the Launch of She’s Red Haute!  BITE Beauty products have taken over my makeup bag.  I felt it only right to celebrate this kissable holiday with a fantastic organic lip color.

BITE Lip Pencil with box

BITE Beauty’s Matte Creme Lip Crayon has an incredibly smooth finish.  I hate when matte lipsticks have a “chapped lip” look.  This one is silky and the color lasts for hours.  I’ve been wearing the Aubergine hue lately and have been getting so many compliments.  The other thing I love about the product is that it is 100% natural and organic. What’s your favorite lip color to celebrate our Ginger holiday?
